Dog cockles (Amandes or sea almonds) have a beautiful round shape and thick, marbled shells. The meat of these little shellfish is firm and has a good flavour. Dog cockles live in the seabed where they dig themselves in to a depth of 20 cm. Dog cockles are caught in the Atlantic Ocean all year round.
